We helped this small team create hundreds of search templates, broken down by investment sector to provide some high-level filtering of potential prospects. Once a prospect was identified, we showed them how to create monitoring channels for each of the prospects and all of their competitors to give a full picture of the market. After companies were acquired and became part of the profile, we adjusted the type of information they wanted to monitor appropriately. A particularly useful set of data was the hiring trends, which we helped them figure out using LinkedIn and other sources.
